The Puget Sound Computer Science Teachers Association (PSCSTA) is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic undergraduate student in a School of Education to join them as a Student Media Manager from June 2025 to May 2026. This could be a great fit for you with opportunities to network and learn from current and former CS teachers. - Role: Student Media Manager
- Duration: June 2025 to May 2026
- Hours: Approximately 10 hours a month
- Compensation: $190 a month stipend for 12 months
- Additional Perks: Full scholarship for the Computer Science Endorsement Exam Prep Course starting in January 2025, including the exam fee
What You’ll Do:
- Promote computer science as an additional endorsement to undergrad teaching students.
- Help PSCSTA communicate the resources, services, and opportunities it provides to CS teachers statewide.
- Work virtually, making it super flexible with your schedule.
Qualifications:
- Must be an undergrad student in a School of Education, preferably a junior.
- Interest in teaching computer science.
- At least one college-level computer science course with 40 hours of coding experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in social media platforms and digital communication tools.
- Passion for promoting computer science education.
This role is a fantastic way to gain experience, earn a stipend, and prepare for the Computer Science Endorsement Exam, which can open up new teaching opportunities. Plus, you’ll be part of a community that’s dedicated to enhancing computer science education across Washington State.
Personal Stories:
Megan is the current social media manager. She is a junior at Whitworth University double majoring in Mathematics and Secondary Education. She also has a computer science minor and through PSCSTA has passed the CS endorsement exam (see Rubber Duck Spotlight in Sep 2024 Connector).
Tailer, a fellow education student who graduated from Central Washington University, was the social media manager in 2023-2024. She now teaches math in Georgia and has successfully passed her computer science endorsement exam last year. (see Teacher Spotlight in Aug 2024 Connector).
